The curriculum of the MEDA-ETE e-learning course for teacher and trainer was approved at the MEDA-ETE Annual Forum held in Rome on 19-20 April. Plans were finalised to begin training 150 trainers from 10 MEDA countries beginning with the first 15 at a launch event due to take place in Israel in 15th May. The other partner countries will follow in comings weeks.
The E-learning course aims to improve the quality of education and training in MEDA countries by developing the expertise and know-how of teachers and trainers in new ways across national boundaries. The project is built upon a network of teacher and trainer training institutions from public and private sectors.
While teachers and trainers are the main target audience, the course also addresses the critical need for administrators and education specialist to understand the management and pedagogical issues of elearning well enough to make sound decisions for elearning programmes implementation.
The training will last one year and will be implemented in a blended approach. The training course goes beyond the basics and cover the integrated use of ICT and pedagogy, as well as applications of elearning in two specific trades: ICT and Tourism.
Other intervention of the MEDA-ETE project in the field of e-learning will cover the set-up of an inventory of good practices on E-learning initiatives in MEDA region and the development of a common methodology for the design and implementation of elearning courses. “This is a regional initiative which aims to have a big impact at a national level,” says Borhene Chakroun, MEDA-ETE team leader, “the MEDA-ETE team is happy to start operating at the countries level and will do all it can to support stronger national ownership of the project.”
